From The Product Team

IMPORTANT: TIC Score "Time Decay" Removal

This release of scoutPRIME includes a very exciting enhancement which greatly improves the accuracy of the Threat Indicator Confidence (TIC) Score. Temporarily, however, you may experience TIC score increases for your collections and network elements (IPs, FQDNs, CIDRs, and ASNs).

The rise in TIC scores is due to the removal of "time decay" processes. Previously, with time decay, the severity of TIC scoreswould drop if a feed stopped reporting malicious data over time. This will no longer be the case and TIC scores will only decrease when risk associations are removed due to age.

With this enhancement, TIC score changes will be most noticeable in the first 24 to 72 hours after the upgrade, and as a result, you may also experience a surge of TIC-related notification emails. Please keep in mind that scores will adjust over time and be more precise as the system ingests data.

We want to thank you for the feedback you've provided us with in the past to improve the accuracy of the TIC score. We hope that this improvement will allow you to better understand and assess the associated risks of your collections and other data.
